Welcome to Rail H olidays France!
Come and stay in our beautiful 17th Century rural French cottages, with exposed beams and stonework; nestled in a small, ancient hamlet surrounded by open rolling countryside, rivers and woodland of the sunny Poitou-Charente region.
We are perfectly situated for the rail enthusiast or more discerning holiday maker as our cottages are adjacent to the Paris to Bordeaux railway line. Relax in the sunshine, on the terrace or within the large gardens, with a glass of fine red wine watching TGV, freight and local trains pass by. Children love watching the trains from the garden and cycling to the nearby bridge, waving at the train drivers to try and encourage them to hoot their horn as they pass beneath them.
Our holiday cottages, each accommodating up to six people, provide the perfect retreat for all age groups with a superb range of local amenities and activities to ensure everyone has a wonderful holiday. Nearby there is a variety of local French railway heritage including steam railways in the Haute Vienne and Limousin and the unique velo-rail, a type of peddle powered tram, where you can cycle along historic railway lines crossing bridges and enjoying breathtaking views.
 We are only 3km from the charming market town of Civray with all its amenities and further afield the Marais Poitevan is a hidden gem of criss-crossing backwaters where you can spend the day punting and bird watching. For the more adventurous there are many activity sports nearby such as rock climbing, tree-top climbing, canoeing and horse riding.
Onsite you have access to bikes, fishing rods and tennis rackets to use at the local tennis courts, there is also a swimming pool, children’s swings and a games room with pool table, table tennis, books, family games and videos.
The family friendly accommodation is ideal for children, with baby equipment available on request. A baby alarm can also be provided so that you can dine outside, in the full knowledge that your little ones are safely tucked up in bed! A ba bysitting service is also available on request.
Although the cottages are self catering, we can provide simple home cooked food if required, which is served on the terrace. Vegetarians can also be catered for.
We are a small family run business so we will go that extra mile to ensure that you have the perfect French railway holiday!
